Hill Country Church Project

Our first meeting to brainstorm how to help them grow in their effectiveness.

Hill Country Church in Lakeside, CA is a small church with a big heart to reach the hurting young people of their community. I met Justin Hardin a few years back as we sponsored the youth leader luncheon at Future Quest Youth Conference. We began a conversation that finally led to us meeting this year at his church to talk about how we can help them grow in their effectiveness at reaching youth. At that meeting I met Issac Avila, their youth pastor and several others.

Though a full teen center is not possible for them at the moment, we discussed ways we could renovate their youth room to better minister to the young people who are coming and even open it one day a week before youth group as a mini-teen center. This way young people can come early to hang out, play games, and meet caring adults before youth group each week.

We also discovered that they have several youth who are very gifted in art. We realized that we could create a space where they could grow in their abilities and have access to art supplies they would otherwise not be able to get hold of. In this way, we give them a unique space to practice what they enjoy, invite new friends, and grow in their relationship with God.
